Surfspots

Hikkaduwa

Hikkaduwa is a coastal town in southwest Sri Lanka and one of the best surf spots on the island. Until the 70s, Hikkaduwa was a dreamy fishing village. It was then discovered by young tourists who enjoyed the beauty of beach life there as hippies or surfers. Now it hosts surfing competitions like the “Red Bull Surf Contest” every year.

The waves vary in size from 2 to 8 foot. The best conditions are in the dry season from November to March.
There are 3 surf spots in total:

  • Beach Break (Perfect for beginners and advanced surfers)
  • Main Point (For those who have been surfing for a long time and of course all professionals)
  • North (For all those who have been surfing for a long time and of course all professionals).

Due to the great diversity of species and the countless offshore coral formations, you may be lucky enough to come across a turtle while surfing.

Dewata

Dewata is a small town near the famous Galle Fort and only 30 minute’s drive from Hikkaduwa. With its soft sand and long waves, it is one of the best surf spots for surfers who want to learn or improve their skills. On days when the sea is too rough in Hikkaduwa, we pack the surfboards on the TukTuk and take you there.
